Dr. Elaine Murphy was born and raised in Cork in the south of Ireland and can be heard before she’s seen with her characteristic Irish accent. She received her veterinary degree from UCD, Dublin in June 2015 and was on a plane to Canada shortly after! She has an interest in Small Animal Behaviour, and ophthalmology, but wants to explore all aspects of general practice before specializing in any particular area. Dr. Murphy volunteered on her first trip with AVH and the GAAP, the Global Alliance for Animals and People, in 2018 to Todos Santos in Guatemala and years later Roatan, Honduras. In 2022 she participated in her first northern canada trip to Blind River First Nations reserve.

She has lived in Barrie since starting at AVH in 2015 with her husband, children, and family fur babies. In her spare time, she likes to go for walks, hiking and to the movies.
