Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy, or Aquatherapy, can decrease recovery time from surgery, enhance cardiovascular fitness, and improve joint pain through low impact exercise.

Overview

Hydrotherapy or Aquatherapy, utilizes an underwater treadmill. It provides an optimal rehabilitation setting by utilizing the warmth, buoyancy, and resistance of water. This form of therapy can speed recovery post-surgery, enhance cardiovascular fitness, and improve joint pain through low impact exercise.

Why would my pet need Hydrotherapy?

Veterinary hydrotherapy may be used for many reasons. It can simply be used to help keep a pet in shape during cold months or used as a treatment option for many orthopedic and neurological conditions.

Common conditions treated:

  • After joint surgery

  • Arthritis management

  • After a neurological event

  • Weight loss

  • General exercise and fitness

How does Hydrotherapy work?

Picture a giant glass container with a treadmill in the bottom. Your pet will walk into the dry exercise chamber through a door. Once inside and calm, warm water is fed into the chamber. This helps to relax tight muscles and improve tissue extensibility. Depending on your pet and the session's goals will dictate the depth of the water, speed your pet is walking, the time of their sets, and if increased resistance with jets is needed. Every session is tailored specifically to your pet to help them achieve their therapeutic goals.

With advanced equipment and progressive methodology, we are committed to providing the best possible hydrotherapy for your pet. Every assessment, decision, and treatment is customized to the specific needs of your pet so that they can manage their condition or recovery and live out their happy, healthy life.
