Dr. Honeywood graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1967. After working with Dr. Murrel Bauman at Eldale Veterinary Clinic in Elmira, he and a fellow classmate Dr. Peter Schoppel bought Dr. Lloyd Fisher's established large animal practice. On June 1, 1970 Allandale Veterinary Clinic was established and rented offices at the former "Copaco Building", 272 Innisfil Street across from Simcoe District Co-Op.
In 1975,the present location at 484 Essa Road was purchased and the existing building was converted to offices and a large animal surgery. In 1989, the farm behind the clinic was sold, houses were built off Mapleton and Dr. Honeywood decided to expand the practice to include companion animals.
Dr. Patricia Lechten was hired to spearhead the development of the small animal division which grew as a result of excellent service and client referrals. In 1996, the large animal and small animal divisions were split into two separate businesses. Dr. Lechten became the managing partner of the small animal practice. The small animal practice continued to expand under Dr. Lechten's direction. Dr. Lechten purchased Dr. Honeywood's share of Allandale Veterinary Hospital Professional Corporation in October,2007. Dr. Honeywood continues to operate the large animal division from 484 Essa Road and shares client services personnel to serve the large animal clients.
